The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), the apex body representing the Sangtam student community, has expressed “deep concern” and lodged a strong objection regarding the prolonged absence of a Field Officer (FO) at the State Bank of India’s Kiphire branch.

In a letter addressed to the Assistant General Manager, Regional Branch Office, SBI Dimapur, USSC highlighted that “the absence of such a crucial officer in a District Headquarters for such an extended period of time raises a serious question as to why apparent step motherly treatment has to be meted out towards our district.”

The student body pointed out that the continued absence of the FO “has adversely impacted the general populace and caused immense hardships and inconveniences towards its trusted customers which the USSC will not tolerate.”

Kiphire, situated in a remote part of Nagaland, “requires constant administrative and financial attention,” the USSC noted, adding that the ongoing negligence “has resulted in disruption of normal financial transactions and other essential banking services in the district.”

The organization also warned that such disparities “not only hampers the efficiency of the branch but also undermines the trust of the people towards the institution.” It further stated that “should the persistent matter remain unaddressed within a reasonable time, the USSC will be compelled to take its course of action within its available means.”

The USSC strongly urged the authorities to “take immediate corrective measures and ensure the competent Field Officer to [be] deployed without further delay.”

The letter was signed by Suropi Sangtam, Vice-President, and Astridy Longtsase Sangtam, Assistant General Secretary of the USSC.
