Uttar Pradesh secured their place in the final of the Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier 2) with a commanding 3–0 victory over Assam in the semi-final held at the Chümoukedima Sports Complex on Monday. The match, graced by the presence of Aotula T. Imchen, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, saw Uttar Pradesh display tactical discipline and composure throughout.

Uttar Pradesh beat Assam 3-0 to reach
The match began with Assam controlling early possession and pressing high, but Uttar Pradesh’s compact midfield and defensive organisation soon took control. The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Anjali Yadav calmly finished a well-placed pass to give Uttar Pradesh the lead. Assam, despite having 54% possession, struggled to create clear chances as Uttar Pradesh’s defence held firm.

Uttar Pradesh doubled their advantage just before halftime when Divya capitalised on a defensive lapse, striking a low and powerful shot in the 39th minute. Assam pushed aggressively in the second half, winning six corners, but could not break through the structured Uttar Pradesh defence or the alert goalkeeper.

Anjali Yadav completed her brace in the 69th minute with a clinical finish, effectively ending Assam’s hopes. Uttar Pradesh’s seven shots on target compared to Assam’s three highlighted the difference in attacking effectiveness.

Uttar Pradesh will face Maharashtra in the final on December 11.
