At around noon on Tuesday, 5 September, a vehicle rammed into the traffic island located at Mariani Road junction near Rotary Club building in Mokokchung town, causing significant damage to the island’s side wall. According to a traffic police account, the accident was attributed to a lapse in the driver’s judgment. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no legal cases were filed. However, it was noted that the vehicle involved, a Maruti Gypsy, had modifications including an ‘iron bumper’ which contributed to the extensive damage. The owner was instructed to remove the illegal alterations from the vehicle, the traffic police official said. (MTNews)
