Mokokchung, 3 October (MTNews): The Central Nagaland Tribal Council (CNTC) has, through a press statement, expressed disapproval over the “disparaging words” used by Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, while mentioning CNTC during his speech at the National Youth Peace Convention held in Chümoukedima on 1 October 2023.

It may be mentioned here that on 1 October, the Minister, while talking about peace and unity among the Nagas, remarked that despite discussions about unity in the state, there is ‘only talk but no action.’ He further commented on the division among the Nagas, saying, “ENPO going somewhere, Tenyemi going somewhere, and CNTC from where it has come, I don’t know.”

Following this, the CNTC expressed that it is “very unfortunate” that the Minister “chose to mock his own family while calling for Naga unity.” They stated, “This is unbecoming of a person holding an elected position who seems to have conveniently forgotten his roots of existence.”

CNTC also said that, “for those elected leaders feigning ignorance about CNTC formation and existence despite having attended meetings called by CNTC,” they will be reaching out to “refresh the memories in order to grow together as family and work towards unity of the Naga society as desired by every right thinking people.”
