Mokokchung, 25 July (MTNews): In yet another significant crackdown against drug trafficking, Mokokchung Police have apprehended eight drug peddlers in two separate operations conducted recently. The arrests were made under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.

 

In the first operation, Mokokchung Police conducted a house search in Mokokchung town on 21 July. In this operation, four individuals were arrested on charges of drug peddling. The police also seized three vials of suspected brown sugar/sunflower drug from the suspects.

 

Further intensifying their efforts to curb the drug menace, Mokokchung Police conducted house searches in Akhoya Village and Mokokchung town on 24 July. During the operation, four individuals were apprehended on charges of drug peddling. Among the arrested, three were caught in Akhoya Village, and one was nabbed in Mokokchung town. The police recovered three soap cases and two vials of suspected brown sugar/sunflower drug from the accused.

 

Two separate cases have been registered under the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985, which aims to control and prevent the illegal trafficking and abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Further investigations are ongoing and authorities are delving deeper into the networks of these drug peddlers.
