The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC NNPGs) held its installation ceremony on Saturday, 8 February at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur. During the event, Gen (Retd) MB Neokpao, President of GPRN/NSCN (Unification), was unanimously reappointed as Convener of WC NNPGs.

Additionally, P Tikhak Naga, Ato Kilonser of GPRN/NSCN (Reformation), and Col (Retd) Isak Sumi, Ato Kilonser of NSCN/GPRN (K), were appointed as Working Conveners. The selections were made on January 31 and formalized during the ceremony.

In his address, Neokpao reaffirmed his commitment to the Naga cause and emphasized the need for unity among all stakeholders. Acknowledging the multiple factions within the movement, he urged leaders to uphold principles and integrity.

“The Government of India must be laughing at us while we are shying away from Nagas because of the many divisions.

I have been serving in the underground for 51 years. My spirit has not died. When we have not received the target, we cannot be fighting for small pieces. We all need to collectively fight for it,” he stated.

P Tikhak also pledged his dedication to the Naga people and stressed the need for introspection and corrective measures for unity. He cautioned against individuals exploiting the movement for personal gain, saying:
“We should not fall into the trap of certain people who see this political movement as an opportunity for wealth accumulation rather than a duty and responsibility.”

Col (Retd) Isak Sumi, in his speech, underscored that leadership must be rooted in service and sacrifice rather than self-interest.

“Leadership should be about giving rather than receiving,” he remarked.

The event also included a spiritual address on “Nagaland for Christ” by Rev. Dr. Sedevilie Angami, Founding Director of Shalom Prayer Centre, Dimapur. Representatives from student bodies and NGOs shared solidarity messages, extending their support for the Naga political movement.

The installation ceremony marked a renewed commitment by the Working Committee NNPGs towards strengthening unity and advancing the Naga cause.
