The Well Wishers Self Help Group, Dilong Ward, launched a two wheeler taxi project in a dedication program at Dilong Community Hall, Mokokchung, on Saturday.
Aridong, President of the Well Wishers SHG, in a welcome speech mentioned that the project was an endeavor to help promote self reliance and financial independence among the youths of the ward.

Guest of honour, N.Bendang Jamir, NDPP President, Mokokchung Region, talked about self reliance and appreciated the group for the exemplary work that would contribute towards the betterment of society.
“In the wake of problems, don’t let this project fade away; but instead, try to increase the number of taxis in the days to come with the profit earned by the three taxis launched today,” he said.
Chairman, Dilong Ward Yimden, also highlighted the problem of road congestion due to urbanization and applauded the group for the initiative, saying it was a need of the hour for curbing the ever growing traffic problems in Mokokchung and also as a way to economically sustain oneself.
There are currently 3 two wheeler taxis under the project and it will be operational within Mokokchung Municipal Council area. Currently, the group emphasized on employing riders who are residents of Dilong Ward and are youths or unemployed, with plans to further expand the project in the days to come.
