What is Demand for Grants?
Demand for Grants refers to the estimates of expenditure from the Consolidated Fund of India that are presented in the annual financial statement and require approval by the Lok Sabha under Article 113 of the Constitution.
These estimates cover revenue and capital expenditures, grants to state and union territory governments, as well as loans and advances. Typically, one Demand for Grant is submitted for each ministry or department, although larger ministries may have multiple demands.
