In the aftermath of a tragic police chase that led to the death of Ngukavi Yeptho, a 40-year-old resident of Tokugha village, the Tokugha Village Students’ Union has raised concerns about police conduct. The union condemned the actions of the Special Operating Team (SOT) and Women Police Wing of Dimapur as “unconstitutional” and “inhuman.”

Ngukavi Yeptho died during a police chase on Thursday night in Kuhuboto, Niuland district. According to reports, Ngukavi’s death occurred during a high-speed chase involving the SOT and Women Police Wing.

It was also claimed that the chase involved two private vehicles, one of which reportedly ran over Ngukavi. An FIR has been lodged at Niuland Police Station.

Police sources indicated that Ngukavi was being pursued in connection with an ongoing investigation. It was reported that the vehicle involved lost control, leading to the collision with Ngukavi’s motorcycle.

The Tokugha Village Students’ Union strongly appealed to the law enforcing agencies to thoroughly investigate the case and apprehend the culprit and book those involved under appropriate sections of law. The Students’ Union further stated that no person is above the law including the police personnel.
