Mokokchung, October 31 (MTNews): According to the Public Grievances Department of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (PGD-NPCC), the State Tribal Affairs Department has undertaken 17 Eklaviya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in various districts of the state for which it has appreciated the department.
Citing an RTI reply from the Department, PGD-NPCC in a press release on Monday said that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India has sanctioned Rs 6200 lakh on March 30, 2021 for 2018-19 and 2020-2021 and another Rs 8170 lakh on February 25, 2021 for the year 2021-2022 for the 17 EMRS.
The selected EMRS according to PGD-NPCC are located in Vidima, Chumoukedima; Kiphire Sadar; Kohima Sadar; Tuli; Palhang, Peren; Wokha Sadar; Japu, Mokokchung; Botsa, Kohima; Tamlu, Longleng; Longsa, Mokokchung; Tenning, Peren; Noksen, Tuensang; Noklak; Suruhuto, Zunheboto; Phomching, Mon; Tsurangkong; and Alongkima.
According to the PGD- NPCC, the Chief Engineer, PWD (Housing) Kohima has issued the work Order to ten government registered Class-I contractors. However, it expressed regret at the slow progress of the projects for reasons best known to the department and contractors.
It appealed to the department and the implementing agencies as well as the respective district administrations and village councils to ensure that the projects are implemented successfully. It also observed that unless all the district administration, village councils, contractors and the department coordinate, the projects would face technical difficulties since everyone has equal responsibility and are involved in the MoU for the projects.
In this regard, the PGD-NPCC informed that it is committed to serve for the welfare of the people and that it will monitor the projects till they become a reality.
