With changing times, Governments now boosting sports development: KG Kenye

Kohima, December 6 (MTNews): Former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Advisor NDPP, Nagaland, KG Kenye stated that during the past years, sports was not given much emphasis but with times changing, every state and government is giving focus to boost sports through infrastructural development and encouragement to sportspersons.

 

 

 

Gracing the Pholami Youth Organisation (PYO) 57th games and sports meet inaugural program as special guest held at GHS Ground, Pholami village in Phek district, Kenye underscored the point that “Sports as a profession has become an industry for highest income generation for people” and stated that there are many sports persons who rose from humble beginnings to prominence.

 

In his address, he also expressed his belief that he is born to be in politics adding that spanning for over 32 years, he had been into the field and he acknowledged the overwhelming support he received from Pholami village. He said he is forever indebted to the villagers and beseeched their mandate in the forthcoming election.

Stating that Pholami village is second to none in the field of games and sports, he said, sports is one of the famous human activities at various levels be it at state, national, regional, continental and world at large while it unifies people of all countries for a healthy competition despite all power struggles, political and border issues.

 

He also added that medal winners at the world arena not only bring medals but glory and honor to the nation and states while they also get much respect for their physical and intellectual capabilities.

 

Meanwhile, he advised the youth to be disciplined, keep consistency, have a strict diet and have strong determination with self-confidence to be champions.
