Wokha, 25 September (MTNews): Joining the rest of the country and districts of the State, aids and assistive devices to the differently abled persons were distributed in Wokha District. A total of 328 differently abled and senior citizens from across the district received various aids and assistive devices under the initiative of ALIMCO, a public undertaking under the banner of Samajik Adhikarita Shivir (SAS).
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS launched the program as the chief guest at DC’s Office on 24 September 2023.
While speaking at the program, Kumar thanked the ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) for initiating the program. He encouraged the differently-abled and senior citizens to seize the opportunities provided by the Government of India, emphasizing that various schemes have been established to empower them and enhance their quality of life. He urged them to take full advantage of these schemes.
The program was chaired by District Welfare Officer (DWO) Wokha, James Ezung, who also delivered the keynote address, shedding light on the significance of the aid and assistive devices being distributed.
The occasion was graced by the presence of CEO of National Trust, KR Vaidheeswaran, who oversaw and monitored the entire distribution process.
