Wokha, 7 July (MTNews): The Wokha District Administration flagged off a group of women for specialized residential skill training on Jacquard Handloom Weaving at the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC) in Guwahati. The training program, conducted in collaboration with NEHHDC Guwahati and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Task Force, aims to enhance and improve the quality of the handloom weaving sector in Wokha district through skill development and capacity-building efforts.
Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ranjan, addressing the program, emphasized the importance of this initiative in uplifting the handloom weaving industry. Ranjan highlighted that the specialized training program intends to enhance the quality standards of the handloom sector to meet both domestic and global demands.
The Deputy Commissioner assured the trainees of post-training support, which includes assistance in marketing, capital linkages, business support, guidance, and vouchers.
Anuranjan Singh, MGNF and In-charge of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Wokha, expressed optimism about the positive impact of the specialized skill training program. Singh emphasized that the training will greatly elevate the standards of weaving in Wokha, enabling weavers to produce high-quality handloom products that meet market demands.
