The Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on October 25, 2024, in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Wokha.
During the meeting, the agenda for issuing land pattas to government departments was discussed. MLA and DPDB Wokha Chairman Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe emphasized the need to find immediate solutions for government offices occupying uncompensated land. The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, who also serves as the DPDB Vice Chairman, informed members about the process of applying for land pattas, adding that they would only be issued to government departments without legal complications.
Project Director of DRDA Wokha, Thungbemo Patton, officially launched the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) campaign, explaining that it aims to raise awareness at the village level about existing schemes and projects promoting economic development and social justice.
The board welcomed a proposal from the Sericulture Department to establish a common facility center, recommending that a detailed proposal be prepared. The members also approved the CMO Wokha’s proposal to set up a new sub-center at Saron Colony in Wokha.
The YRO, PHED, and Electrical departments gave PowerPoint presentations, showcasing departmental achievements and future plans. In response to a suggestion by YRO Wokha to develop aquatic sports at the Chubi Bridge area, the DC Dimapur advised submitting a proposal detailing funding sources.
MLA and DPDB Chairman Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe urged the power department officials to address power theft seriously, offering a donation of 50-watt LED lights to enhance lighting in certain areas of Wokha district.
It was decided that the Veterinary and Industries departments would present their activities at the next DPDB meeting. The meeting concluded with a note of thanks from the Chair.
