The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Wokha district was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, with Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan and MLA YM Humstoe in attendance.
Patton commended the efforts of DC Wokha and DPDB members in organising the district’s first-ever Banana Festival, to be held from October 22 to 24, 2025. He suggested inviting all Heads of Departments and Ministers of Agriculture and Allied departments.

Advisor Mhathung Yanthan emphasised the importance of Liaison Officers in coordinating with guests, scientists, and officials, adding that several renowned companies had shown interest in showcasing advanced tools, seeds, and machinery, provided logistical support is arranged. MLA Humstoe praised the committees under DC Wokha for their efforts and expressed confidence in the festival’s success.
DC Wokha Vineet Kumar, IAS, informed that over 100 stalls from within and outside Nagaland will display more than 20 banana varieties and related products. Over 30 premier institutions and marketing bodies will also conduct workshops and farmer training sessions.
Lotha Eloe Hoho President Thungbeni Ngully proposed integrating Miss Wokha 2025 into DPDB activities. The meeting concluded with departmental presentations and a vote of thanks from the chair.
