Wokha, 27 January (MTNews): In a dramatic turn of events, the second quarter-final match between Englan Range Sports Association (ERSA) and Nyiro Range Sports Association (NRSA) at the ongoing Lotha Football Championship organized by Wokha District Football Association (WDFA) was abruptly halted on Saturday due to clashes among fans on the field in Wokha public ground.

According to reports, NRSA supporters breached the grounds during the ongoing match, triggering retaliatory actions from ERSA supporters, leading to an escalation of the situation.

In response to the situation, WDFA announced the immediate suspension of both teams involved, NRSA and ERSA, effective 27 January 2024 for a one-year period. This decision aligns with By Laws Point No. 12 under Clause One (i) of the 13th Lotha Football Championship 2024.

The suspension declaration took place in the presence of team management representatives from NRSA and ERSA, alongside WDFA officials. All parties involved have agreed to adhere to the regulations set forth by the Organizing Committee, as per a report received here.
