A one-day workshop-cum-training for Master Volunteers (MV) under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was held on April 3, 2025, at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha.

Organized by the Wokha District NMBA in collaboration with the State-Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) and Kripa Foundation, the program was held under the theme ”Stronger Together, Action & Transformation.”

Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar, IAS, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the critical role of master volunteers in addressing substance abuse. He described their responsibilities as both challenging and rewarding, as they have the potential to transform lives.

Encouraging volunteers to conduct spot counseling for identified users and guide them to the nearest de-addiction centers, Kumar stated, ”Your goal is not to transform the whole society, but to see how many lives you can change. The satisfaction of bringing someone back to normal life will have a profound impact on individuals and society as a whole.”

Resource persons Renbonthung Tungoe, Project Manager of Project Sashakt, Kripa Foundation, and Bendang Imsong, Coordinator, SLCA, Kripa Foundation, spoke on the roles of master volunteers, types of drugs, their effects, consequences, and treatment principles. The program was chaired by District Welfare Officer, Wokha, C James Ezung.
