Wokha, 13 January (MTNews): In a thrilling climax to the 28th Winter Cricket Challenge, LCYO is set to lock horns with the defending champions, Highlanders, in what promises to be an exhilarating grand finale on Sunday.

The stage was set after the second semi-final clash between Phyolumo XI and Highlanders. Highlanders, having won the toss, chose to bat first; ultimately setting a challenging target of 150 runs in 20 overs, losing 2 wickets in the process. Hiketo, the opening batsman, played a pivotal role, contributing 61 runs to the scoreboard, with number 3 batsman Jitu remaining unbeaten with an impressive 72 runs.

In pursuit of the target, Phyolumo XI faced a formidable Highlanders bowling attack. Despite some valiant efforts, they fell short, losing the match by 38 runs in 18.2 overs after losing all wickets. Only four batsmen managed to reach the double-figure mark, with Renjamo scoring 23, Mhachamo with 22, Shanben totaling 10, and Nayan contributing 17.

Jitu of Highlanders, whose stellar batting performance played a crucial role in securing the victory, was rightfully adjudged the man of the match.
