In a major boost for Nagaland’s Tourism Industry, Team Metamorphosis, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland, is set to organize a groundbreaking event that promises to be a feast for the senses.
The inaugural WWF-META (Wokha Winter Fiesta – Music, Eco-Tourism and Adventure) is scheduled to take place from the 4th to the 9th of December 2023, amidst the scenic landscapes of Lanchuju Eru, Doyang. This event comes alive under the theme of “Explore and Discover.”
Thungdemo Kyong, Chief of Team Metamorphosis, a Non-Governmental Organization based in Wokha District, shared the vision behind WWF-META. With 19 years of unwavering service to the local community, Team Metamorphosis champions the principles of living together and growing together. Their mission, Kyong said, is to create a harmonious society where everyone can lead fulfilling lives while striving for self-reliance.
At the heart of WWF-META lies the theme “Explore and Discover.” This theme reverberates with the essence of harnessing the natural resources that have generously gifted the region. Kyong underscored the importance of tapping into these resources for the greater good.
The festival promises a diverse array of activities. Daylight hours will be filled with indigenous games that celebrate local culture and traditions. As the sun sets, the evenings will come alive with a symphony of music, aimed at promoting local and emerging artists. Additionally, local artisans will have the opportunity to showcase their handicraft products by setting up stalls.
Thungchibemo Lotha, another key figure behind WWF-META, highlighted the festival’s focus on music, art, and adventure. He emphasized that this will become an annual event with a noble purpose: to generate employment opportunities, particularly for the local youth. Lotha’s vision for the festival goes beyond just entertainment; it’s about unlocking the vast potential of tourism in Nagaland, with a special emphasis on Wokha district. The event aims to attract visitors from both within and outside the state, offering an infusion of fun, entertainment, and thrill for people from all walks of life.
