A woman from Agri Farm Colony, Kohima, was assaulted and robbed by an unidentified miscreant on October 24 around 9:30 p.m., according to various local media reports.
Sources said the incident occurred while the woman was returning home from a program at Faith Harvest Church. According to EM, the attack occurred as she was descending a staircase near the Jail Colony traffic point, along a poorly lit alley leading to her home. The assailant struck her on the head with a stick from behind and fled after snatching her bag. Hearing her scream, a neighbor rushed out and tried to pursue the suspect but was unable to apprehend him.
Her bag was later found abandoned at PR Hill Colony, with a small amount of cash missing. The victim, who sustained bruises and swelling on her head, was reported to be in stable condition.
Police informed that CCTV footage purportedly showing the suspect is being circulated on social media and that investigation is underway. A case has been registered at South Police Station following an FIR lodged on October 25.
