A woman was reportedly assaulted in Kohima on the evening of November 3 in the PWD area, as first reported by NLTV.

According to the victim’s account shared with NLTV, the incident occurred while she was returning home from work when a man followed her and attempted to accost her despite her resistance. The woman managed to flee and sought help from a relative nearby, who confronted the accused and escorted her home safely.

The accused is reportedly a taxi driver and, according to the victim, a habitual offender who has allegedly harassed multiple women in the past.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.

The case has sparked renewed concerns about women’s safety in Kohima, particularly amid a series of disturbing incidents reported in recent months.

On October 26, a 22-year-old woman, reportedly a well-known basketball player, was found murdered near her residence at Old Ministers’ Hill, Kohima. Police said the victim was last seen the previous night, and the motive remains unknown.

Within the same week, another woman was reportedly assaulted and robbed in Kohima. Late last year, a woman was allegedly beheaded by her husband in what authorities described as a case of domestic violence, while earlier this year, another woman was found murdered at Pimla village in Peren District, in what is suspected to be a sexual assault case.

Despite these alarming incidents, no lawmaker has so far publicly condemned the recent crimes or announced any specific policy response to address the rising violence against women in Nagaland.
