Mokokchung, March 12 (MTNews): A one day workshop on “Cleanest Award ULBs 2022” organized by Sanitation Committee Sungkomen Ward and sponsored by Sungkomen Ward Authority was held at Community Hall, Sungkomen Ward, on Saturday.
Resource person, Kilepchiba, Sanitation Inspector, MMC, during the workshop spoke on the structures and parameters revolving around the Cleanest ULBs Award under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0.
He highlighted on the important assessment points, namely Waste segregation, Recycling and Waste disposal emphasizing on proper disposal of dry waste, wet waste, bio-medical waste and C & D waste (Construction and Demolition).
He further urged the residents of Sungkomen ward to pioneer a socio-environmental project in Mokokchung.
During the program, Watimenla Imsong, Co-Founder, Green Heap NGO discussed on the process of converting wet waste into manure through homemade compost pits.
Earlier, a short speech on sanitation was delivered by Rev.O Yashi, Pastor SBC; he asserted that clean environment is a basic right.
The ULB Award on the Municipal level consist of 1st and 2nd position wherein awardees receive Rs. 2 lakhs and Rs. 1.5 lakhs respectively along with certificates, whereas ULB Award on Ward level receives Rs. 20 thousand and Rs. 10 thousand along with certificates to the 1st and 2nd positions respectively. The award is scheduled to be declared on 5 of June on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The workshop was attended by officials of Sungkomen Baptist Church, Watsü Unit, Sungkomen Youth Organization, Sanitation Cluster Leaders, Medical Dept, Green Heap NGO and School Education Board.
