Mokokchung, July 28 (MTNews): World Hepatitis Day was observed on 28th July 2022 at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, jointly organized by the NHM, DAPCU, NUN, Mkg NU, Mkg TI NGOS, NVHCP, and NMP+.
According to a press statement from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kilangwabang Pongen, Senior Specialist IMDH, spoke to the attendees about the many forms of Hepatitis, signs and symptoms, preventive measures, modes of transmission, and treatment.
He asked everyone to take precautions and seek early testing in order to prevent further spread. He stated that the Hepatitis Virus has five main strains: A, B, C, D, and E. He went on to say that it is an opportunity to raise awareness and collaborate on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Different Health Units under Mokokchung District also observed the World Hepatitis Day where health education about the dangers of Hepatitis, prevention, and service were delivered, followed by free screening of beneficiaries for Hepatitis B utilizing Rapid Test Kit, the statement said.
