World Malaria Day was observed across Peren district under the theme, “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”

Dr. K. Limatula Ao

In line with directives from the State NVBDCP, district-wide activities were conducted from April 20 to 24, 2026, focusing on malaria prevention, awareness, and surveillance.

During the campaign, monitoring and supervision were intensified with special emphasis on house-to-house awareness on vector-borne diseases, their prevention, and control. Door-to-door inspections on the proper use of Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) were carried out along with free malaria fever testing.

The campaign was undertaken by NVBDCP Peren staff under the leadership of District Programme Officer, Dr. Caroline T. (DPO-CDS 1).

Special awareness camps and mass screening activities were also organised in high-risk and crowded areas, including marketplaces and migrant worker hotspots.

Community Health Officers (CHOs) and other health workers also conducted awareness programmes and fever screening in their respective health units in coordination with Village Health Nutrition and Sanitation Day (VHNSD) observances.

District-level activities concluded on April 25 at the district headquarters.

Dr. K. Limatula Ao, Chief Medical Officer, Peren, attended as Guest of Honour and delivered the World Malaria Day message.

She stressed sustained commitment towards malaria prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment, adding that the theme is a call to action as the country moves towards malaria elimination.
