Mokokchung, March 24 (MTNews): The National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Mokokchung District observed the World TB Day 2022 at Tsurangkong, Tuli and Changtongya.
The function at Tsurangkong was graced by Atsungba Walling, Border Magistrate. He stressed that if Smallpox can be eradicated, TB too can be eliminated if only all the stake holders and the concerned department work towards the goal hand in hand. Dr. Medemmayang, Rtd. Additional Director & SMO DRTB, Mokokchung exhorted the gathering to adhere to guidelines so that patients can be cured and avoid drug resistant TB.
Village Council Chairman, Chungtiayimsen thanked the concerned department for observing the day at Tsurangkong. A TB Champion, Marla Tzudir, shared her experiences and challenged one and all that TB is very much curable as long as patients maintain strict discipline and take medication as advised. The District TB Officer Dr. L. Tiameren Imchen spoke on the significance of the day “Invest to end TB- Save Lives.” He also spoke on the challenges ahead and urged the stake holders to work hand in hand towards achieving the goal of NTEP.
The World TB day was also observed at Community Health Centre, Tuli. The function was graced by Weku Zheimi, SDO Civil, Tuli. In Changtongya, the president of Watsü Union exhorted the audience the importance of TB program and its benefits. The benediction was pronounced by Watinaro Imchen, Associate Pastor Women.
