In view of the forthcoming Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship scheduled to be held in Delhi from May 21 to 26, 2025, the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) will contribute 15 wrestlers to the 24-member Indian contingent in the senior category, including both male and female participants. An intensive coaching camp for the NWA wrestlers is currently underway at the IG Stadium Multipurpose Hall “B” in Kohima.
According to a press statement issued by NWA Joint Secretary, Kuzhovesa Soho, the camp will continue until the team departs for Delhi, tentatively scheduled for May 19. A short dedicatory programme was also held today, during which Rev. Vilakiezo Yano, Pastor of the Angami Christian Revival Church Council (ACRCC) Mission Centre, Kohima, exhorted the wrestlers and invoked God’s blessings for the camp and their journey ahead.
Reliable sources indicate that around 30 nations, including some from Europe and Africa, are expected to participate in the championship. Naga Wrestling is also expected to be introduced during the event. The NWA has appealed to the people of Nagaland to uphold the wrestlers in prayer and support.
