The Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) has strongly denounced the “unfortunate incident” involving a candidate for the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections who allegedly bowed before a Jain priest seeking blessings and favor, the picture of which has gone viral. Terming it as a “clear example of tarnishing Christian faith and image,” the WSBAK stated that such “blasphemous behavior only brings shame to the Christian community.” WSBAK urged all members of the Christian community to abstain from such “flagrant and shameful acts” in the future.
The WSBAK also said that it has been a strong advocate of the NBCC Clean Election Movement since its inception and that it will not endorse or remain silent to anything that tarnishes Christian faith and image.
WSBAK said that it respects people from other religious faith and embraces diversity; however, it said, every Christian should uphold and live as written in the Bible and cited Exodus 20:3 & 5.
