The Western Sümi Hoho and the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) have directed their respective jurisdictions to abstain from all State Government functions, including the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, in protest against the government’s alleged inaction on the demands of the Five Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy.

In a circular issued on Tuesday, the Western Sümi Hoho instructed all its federating units in Niuland, Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts to enforce “peaceful and orderly non-participation” in all government functions until further notice. The directive, it said, is in line with the resolutions of the Five Tribes Committee and the Sümi Hoho, and should be implemented “avoiding any action or situation that could lead to confrontation.”

Similarly, the CPO, in a circular dated Wednesday, reiterated its support for the resolution adopted by the Five Tribes Committee and the tribal Hohos on August 9 at Kohima. It instructed all citizens within the Chakhroma jurisdiction to refrain from attending any government-related events, stressing that “co-operation is essential for the success of this collective movement.”

The boycott call comes amid growing solidarity among the five tribes over demands to review Nagaland’s reservation policy, a matter that has triggered multiple public resolutions and warnings to the State Government in recent weeks.
