Dimapur, August 16 (MTNews): The Western Sumi Hoho has expressed anguish at the state government’s “one-sided stance” on the Kiyevi village issue. In a letter to the Commissioner of Nagaland, WSH on Tuesday said that it was “completely taken aback and totally aghast” at the office memorandum Dated Kohima, the 16th August 2022, which it said reflects nothing but double standards on the part of the Government of Nagaland.
WSH said that the Office Memorandum of the Political Branch, Home Department, would have been justified had it been issued immediately after the civil society organizations of Peren District had intimated to the DC Peren on August 9 about their already resolved decision to impose blockade of Kiyevi village. “Instead, your office obliged the CSOs of Peren District to their unjustified blockade of Kiyevi village and relented to their demand through Commissioner’s letter No. CNG-1/45/COM/KEHOI/2018 dated the 13th August 2022, addressed to DC Chumoukedima/Peren, by agreeing to keep on hold payment of damage compensation to Kiyevi village,” WSH contested.
Following this, the WSH said that it was left with no option but to impose a counter blockade to fight for the bonafide right of Kiyevi village which is a recognized village of Nagaland under the jurisdiction of the WSH.
The WSH said that it was deeply anguished by the one-sided stance of the government which is clearly manifested by the release of the OM only after the WSH imposed a counter blockade. “For the sake of justice and peaceful co-operative co-existence, the government would have done itself a favour had it issued the OM immediately after the imposition of Kiyevi blockade by the CSOs of Peren District or after due payment of damage compensation under package-III to Kiyevi village,” WSH stated.
“In the face of such blatant injustice,” the WSH said that it has no other alternative but to further strengthen and continue with its indefinite bandh until the government revokes its order to keep on hold the payment of damage compensation to Kiyevi village.
The WSH also added that it expects from the government the dispensation of equal treatment and justice.
