Wushu technical training concludes in Kohima

Kohima, 11 January (MTNews): The three-day Wushu technical training organized by the Nagaland Wushu Association concluded at the Nagaland Olympic Association office complex in the state capital, Kohima, on Thursday.

Eleven trainees from various districts of Nagaland completed the co urse with instructors from Manipur, including Dr Moirangthem Ibomcha, an International Wushu Federation (IWUF) Judge, and Mayanglambam Bimoljit Singh, an Arjuna Awardee.

The three-day course covered Taolo and Sanda disciplines, granting qualified certificates to officiate in Nagaland Olympic events for Wushu.

During the closing ceremony, N Ibungochoubi, an executive member of the Manipur Olympic Association, presented certificates to the trainees.

Mayanglambam Bimoljit Singh, the course instructor and Arjuna Awardee, stated that the prospect of Wushu discipline is very high in the state. He expressed confidence that Nagaland will win medals if the athletes deliver their best performances while the association continues its efforts to promote the sport.

NWA General Secretary Akhozo congratulated the trainees, acknowledging the challenging times ahead with the upcoming Nagaland Olympic Games. He expressed hope that the best fighters will compete, promising improved refereeing and decisions. The state government is actively promoting sports, and the association is committed to promoting Wushu in the state, an update from the NWA said.
