The 6th Edition of the Yajen Aier Honorary Award and AKTM Excellency Award programme was held at the Community Hall in Longpa Village on May 24. The event was jointly organized by the Asetkong Conference and the Asetkong Students’ Conference. The Students’ Excellency Award programme is held annually to honour HSLC and HSSLC toppers from the Asetkong range across the state.
Both awards are conferred to students who have excelled in the NBSE-conducted HSLC and HSSLC examinations. This year, two students were conferred the Yajen Aier Honorary Award and the AKTM Excellency Award respectively. Each awardee received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 along with a citation. Additionally, the recipients of the Asetkong Students’ Excellency Award were given Rs 10,000 each along with a certificate.
Bendangtila Longkumer, who secured the 9th position in the HSSLC (Commerce) examination from Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, and Kimenjungla Aier, who ranked 12th in the HSLC examination from Little St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, were this year’s recipients of the Yajen Aier Honorary Award and AKTM Excellency Award.
Besides these two top achievers, the Yajen Aier Honorary Award also recognized the best performing students from Asetkong schools in Classes 8, 9, and 10. Rongnen Jamir of Class 10 from Clark Memorial Secondary School, Impur; Akumsunep Aier of Class 9 from Government High School, Longjang; and Aosanen of Class 8 from Clark Memorial Secondary School, Impur were acknowledged for their academic performance.
Addressing the gathering, Achanger T. Aier, SDO (Electrical), Mokokchung, encouraged the students to pursue their academic goals with clarity and determination. He remarked, “Being a topper is not enough. Vision is what sustains you when challenges come. Let failure become your springboard to motivate you to success.”
