Yingli College, Longleng, celebrated “A Prelude to Monyiü” under the theme “Revive, Relearn, Progress: A Cultural Journey” with Superintendent of Police (SP), Longleng, Yanger Jamir, NPS, as the special guest on March 28, 2025.

In his address, SP Yanger Jamir congratulated the faculty and administration of Yingli College for their continuous progress. He stated that the Nagas, particularly the Phom community, should take pride in their identity, as everyone is unique in their own way and should never surrender without trying. He further urged students to make informed career choices, emphasizing that not everyone can become a gazetted officer. Instead, he encouraged them to identify their talents and interests and set meaningful goals accordingly.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Dr T Temsu Imti, Principal, Yingli College, Longleng, while Dr. B. Henshet Phom, Vice Principal, Yingli College, deliberated on the history of Monyiü.
Monyiü greetings were shared by Ainyu Phom, President, Phomla Hoichem, and N. Nanpei Phom, Head GB, Bhumnyu Village, who also narrated the history of Bhumnyu villagers’ land contribution towards the establishment of Yingli College.

Later, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Superintendent of Police’s office for a five-year internship program aimed at capacity building, community engagement, and public safety. The MoU will enable both institutions to collaborate on local, state, and national matters, prioritizing students’ education.

The event also featured a harmony heritage song and folk dance performed by students, along with a special Monyiü song presented by M. Phammei Phom.

In the second session, Phom writer Chingong Phom delivered a talk on the topic “Writing Culture: A Way Forward.” The program concluded with a talent extravaganza, marking a vibrant celebration of the Phom tribe’s biggest harvest festival. The event saw participation from students and teachers from various high schools, as well as officers from different government departments.
