Mokokchung, 05 April (MTNews): The Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu, Mokokchung observed a one day workshop on soft skills on 5 April under the theme “The Etiquette Edge: Developing a Winning Personality and Professional Demeanor” with Imsurenla Longkumer as the resource person.
Imsurenla Longkumer has a diploma in Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, MSc Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Bachelor in Tourism Studies as the Resource Person.
The program commenced with a welcome address from Imtimenla Jamir, Assistant Professor, MCTE followed by a formal expression of goodwill by MCTE principal Dr T Alemla Longkumer. The first session of the workshop started off with an interactive session where the resource person emphasized on the importance of cultivating a positive attitude and fostering a respectful personality.
The second session proceeded on the topic, ‘personal hygiene and grooming’ followed by the topic, ‘body language and gesture’ which highlighted points such as speaker’s posture, listener’s posture, stance, eye contacts.
The third session stressed on the importance of etiquette and how to deal with people concerning different situations.
Furthermore, the resource person also elucidated on the significance of effective communication skills. Lastly, the ‘24 carats of winners personality’ was shared in order to develop the desired personality in every individual.
The event was attended by both the 2nd and 4th semester student-teachers and the teaching faculty and non – teaching staff of the college. Quoting, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression,” the workshop focused on imparting knowledge on soft skills which is required for effective teaching and learning during internship programs and social events.
The workshop culminated with reflection from the 2nd and 4th semester student–teachers respectively, followed by a note of appreciation from Mr. Kerilhusa Peseyie, Assistant Professor MCTE.
