A newly formed youth collective under the banner “The Fed-Up Nagas” has called upon the Government of India to immediately implement the agreements already signed with the Nagas, asserting that further delay is deepening divisions and weakening Naga society.
In a statement issued on Monday, the group described itself as a collective movement of concerned Naga youths committed to pursuing a peaceful and democratic process to bring a “just and honourable conclusion” to the long-standing Naga political issue, which it claimed “stands concluded in principle.”
Appealing directly to the Government of India, the group urged authorities to act with “sincerity and responsibility” and refrain from what it termed divisive approaches that foster misunderstanding among Nagas.
“Continued delay only weakens our collective strength and accelerates our disintegration as a family, as a people, and as a nation,” the statement read.
The Fed-Up Nagas stated that it functions as a collective movement guided by a core group of like-minded youths “without hierarchy, titles, or official positions.”
According to the statement, any concerned Naga youth may be part of the core and contribute meaningfully to the movement. It described itself as a youth-driven initiative representing Naga youths as a whole, without tribal, organizational, or political affiliation.
“Participants stand solely as individuals united by shared concern and responsibility,” it stated.
Mass rally planned after board examinations
While noting that the ongoing HSLC and HSSLC examinations are underway, the group said it would continue awareness and mobilization campaigns in a “responsible and considerate manner” until the examinations conclude.
It announced that immediately after the examinations, a mass youth rally would be organized. Memorandums and representations would be submitted to relevant authorities as peaceful and democratic demands of the youth for a timely and honorable resolution to the Naga political issue.
The group did not specify a date or venue for the proposed rally.
The collective also appealed to churches and the general Naga public for prayer support, seeking “divine guidance, wisdom, and unity” in what it described as the pursuit of permanent peace and a just resolution.
“We believe that collective spiritual support and moral strength are essential in guiding our efforts toward reconciliation and lasting harmony,” the statement added.
The appeal comes amid continued uncertainty over the implementation of agreements signed between Naga political groups and the Government of India, including the 2015 Framework Agreement between the Centre and the NSCN-IM, as well as 2017 Agreed Position with the NNPGs.
While negotiations have been described as concluded “in principle,” a final settlement has yet to be formally announced.
Reiterating its commitment to non-violence, unity, and constructive engagement, The Fed-Up Nagas called for solidarity from all sections of society who believe in “truth, justice, and the collective future of the Naga people.”
No individual spokesperson was named in the statement.
