Mokokchung, 14 October (MTNews): The Crusader Club of the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church Youth Department organized the 15th edition of ‘Reconnect’ at Yimchalu, Mokokchung, with Akangtemsu, Youth Evangelist of MTBA YD, and Lungleng, a Social Consultant and talk show host, as the speakers.

In the first session, Akangtemsu based his talk on Bible verses from John 15:1-8. He emphasized the issue of dualism, where there should be a clear separation between the flesh and the spirit, as well as between heaven and hell. He pointed out that as young individuals grow older, they tend to detach themselves from church activities, prioritizing worldly pursuits, which creates a sense of dualism.

Akangtemsu encouraged the gathering to examine their belief systems and strike a balance between their devotion and their everyday lives. He stressed that duality must be integrated organically to lead a fruitful life.

In the second session, Lungleng addressed the topic ‘Ageism is the new Racism.’ He defined ageism as a stereotype, prejudice, or discrimination based on age. Lungleng highlighted that age is not a problem to be solved but something everyone should accept. He mentioned that people, consciously or unconsciously, adopt ageism as early as four years old.

Drawing from the Bible, he provided examples of how God used individuals like David and Sarah, emphasizing that age is not a criterion for God’s choices. Lungleng also stressed the importance of respecting elders without compromising what is good in the process.

He encouraged the Crusaders to engage in deconstructing their culture, develop critical thinking habits, and, as youth, address societal issues and lead in the right direction.

The sessions concluded with a discussion hour, and the Crusaders in the ‘Reconnect’ program participated in recreational activities and other events.
