YouthNet, in collaboration with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), hosted the felicitation ceremony of the “Sip & Crunch” Skill Development Program at the Made in Nagaland Centre, Kohima. This program aimed to enhance employability and foster entrepreneurship among 140 local youths and women through specialized training in pickle and juice production.

In her welcome address, Ms Nuneseno Chase, Director of YouthNet, expressed heartfelt gratitude to NABARD for their unwavering support and assistance. She highlighted the significant impact of NABARD-funded initiatives, such as the Skill Development Programs and the Banana Fibre Extraction program, on empowering the youth and women of Nagaland. Ms Chase also emphasized that participants from eight districts across Nagaland took part in the training program, with accommodation provided for trainees from far-flung districts.

Tiakala Ao, Chief General Manager of NABARD, in her keynote address, encouraged trainees to embrace entrepreneurship and explore diverse product lines. She emphasized the importance of networking, collaboration, and continuous self-improvement, urging trainees to stay adaptable and innovative.

“To succeed in today’s competitive market, one must be open to new ideas, persevere through challenges, and give back to the community,” remarked Smt. Ao. “I urge you all to harness these skills, venture out, and contribute to the economic growth of Nagaland.”

The event also celebrated the achievements of the trainees, with Ms Kimthailiu Panmei representing the batch of trainees, sharing her journey and experiences. Notably, 18 participants have successfully launched their businesses, and 126 have completed their FSSAI registration, marking significant strides in fostering local entrepreneurship.

The “Sip & Crunch” program, which ran from January 15 to June 13, 2024, was structured into seven batches and included comprehensive training in food processing, hygiene practices, soft skills, and business management.

The event was chaired by Ms. Apila C Sangtam, Executive of YouthNet. Mr. Vikhoto Zao, Assistant Pastor at Peniel Church, opened the ceremony with an invocation, and Mr. Razouvikhol Luho, Nodal Officer and Project Manager of YouthNet concluded the formal program with a vote of thanks, acknowledging all partners, trainees, and supporters who contributed to the program’s success.

YouthNet’s commitment to post-training support ensures ongoing guidance in marketing, employment connections, and entrepreneurial mentorship through platforms like the Made in Nagaland Centre and YouthNet’s various initiatives.
