Dimapur, July 26 (MTNews): The first ever Y’s Men International Club in the North East was formally set up at Dimapur, Nagaland during the Charter Presentation and Installation Ceremony which was held at Hotel Nagi on 23rd July 2022. Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema was appointed the Nagaland Chapter’s President along with other office bearers.

 

The program was led by Mr. WHC David, Regional Secretary of YMI, India as the Chairperson, while the Installing Officer was Mr. Roshan John Chirayath, Regional Director of YMI. The District Governor of YMI, Ranchi, Mr. Kunal Sharma was also present during the program. The Charter of International Association was presented to the President, Nagaland Chapter by Mr. Kim Sang-Chae, the International President.

 

Y’s Men International is an international group of volunteers in support of YMCA. It was established in 1922 in Toledo, Ohio, U.S. and is now headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

It was originally founded as a service club to support the work of the World Alliance of YMCAs. As Y’s Men International is a world-wide fellowship of persons of all faiths working constructively together in partnership with and supporting the YMCA, its mission is to strive through active service to develop, encourage and provide leadership to build a better world for all humankind.

 

The motto of this international society is ‘To acknowledge the duty that accompanies every right.’Judge Paul William Alexander was the founder of the first Y’s Men Club together with a group of other young men. However, today women are also full members of this movement and family participation is encouraged in numerous activities. Members of the Y’s Men and Women Clubs are known as Y’s Men or Y’s Women.
