Zonal Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for the North East Zone, Dr N Munish Singh, is on a two day visit to Mopungchuket village under Mokokchung district for documenting the art and culture of the Ao Nagas. His documentation is focused on the traditional way of life of the Ao Nagas. On Friday, he documented the arju, folk dances, lore and tales, traditional finery and ornaments, indigenous food, art and craft, and the legend of Jina and Etiben.
He also explored the village and appreciated the community’s effort in promoting rural tourism. Later in the evening, he interacted with the Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society where they discussed ways to scale up tourism in the village. He will be leaving the village on Saturday. The ICCR is an autonomous body under India’s Ministry of External Affairs that manages the country’s external cultural relations.
