Zunheboto, 5 December (MTNews): The Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has approved a proposal seeking the upgrade of the urban station Suruhoto to a full-fledged Town Council. The proposal will now be sent to higher authorities for consideration. Several other key agendas were also deliberated during the monthly Zunheboto DPDB meeting on 5 December 2023 at the DC’s conference hall in Zunheboto.

During the meeting, there was unanimous agreement to include Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officers (SDEOs) in the District Planning and Development Board, recognizing the importance of their role in shaping educational policies and initiatives at the district level.
Furthermore, the District Public Relations Office (DPRO) department sought approval for converting the old DPRO Office into staff quarters, a proposal that received unanimous agreement from the house. The proposal is slated to be forwarded to higher authorities for final approval.
Additionally, the meeting addressed applications for the registration of Elohim Charitable Trust and Eagles Club Suruhoto, both of which received unanimous approval to be forwarded to higher authorities for official clearance. In a move aimed at promoting local area development, the DPDB agreed to constitute an implementing committee for the Local Area Development Programme (LADP).
DC Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS, expressed gratitude to all district Heads of Departments (HODs) for their services during the 50 years of Zunheboto district-hood, and also for the success of the Ahuna festival celebrations. During the meeting, the DC released the DHEW yearly calendar for 2024 and launched the Menstrual Cycle booklet. The forthcoming Zunheboto District Jubilee souvenir will be published and released in the next DPDB meeting in January 2024.
