The second day of the 16th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2023 brought fans a series of exhilarating matchups and critical results as teams fought fiercely to secure their place in the quarter-finals. Here are the highlights of Day 2 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Mokokchung.

Defending champions MH10 Kohima and Evergreen Club Ungma in action on Day 2 of the 16th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2023. MH10 won the match in straight sets, 25-14, 25-14.

 

Match 15: Spartan Club Lakhuni, following two consecutive losses, made a triumphant comeback by defeating Tongden Club B Chungtia with impressive scores of 25-16 and 25-13.

 

Match 16: G-Sport Mokokchung faced a formidable opponent in Chienino Brothers Kiruphema, Kohima. Kiruphema clinched the first set 25-23, but G-Sport mounted a strong comeback in the second set, winning 25-15. The deciding set witnessed Chienino Brothers displaying their dominance and securing victory with a score of 15-10.

 

Match 17: Evergreen Club Ungma faced a setback, losing to Kumlong Sporting Association in straight sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-20 in favor of the Mokokchung town ward champions.
Match 18: JN Aier Memorial Club Yajang C humbled FAC with a convincing win over the college team, securing a victory with scores of 26-24 and 25-8.

 

Match 19: Ozümi Volleyball Team continued their impressive run, defeating Archippus Club Dimapur in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-18. Ozümi secured their third consecutive win in Pool C, earning a spot in the knockout stage.

 

Match 20: In a fiercely contested match, Longsa Sporting Club lost to United Changki, with the final scores being 25-23, 12-25, and 10-15. The deciding set saw Changki make a remarkable comeback.

 

Match 21: Kumlong Ward faced a hard-fought battle against Peren District Volleyball Association. Kumlong won the first set with a score of 25-21, but Peren came back stronger, winning the second set 25-12 and the decisive set 15-10.

Match 22: Changtongya Volleyball Association ‘A’ ended Spartan Club Lakhuni’s journey with scores of 25-19 and 25-7.

Match 23: Newcomers G-Sports Mokokchung bounced back from their previous loss by defeating Tongden Club B with an impressive score of 25-6, 25-10.

Match 24: Defending champions MH10 dominated Evergreen Club Ungma, winning in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-14.Match

25: Kumlong Sporting Association, champions of the Inter Ward Volleyball Tournament, continued their winning streak by defeating JN Aier Memorial Club Yajang C with scores of 25-17 and 25-16. Kumlong has won 2 matches and lost 1 match against defending champions MH10.

Match 26: Ozümi Volleyball Team continued to dominate Pool C by defeating Tongpang Club Tzurangkong with scores of 25-10 and 25-10. Ozümi secured their place in the knockout stage as the top winner of Pool C.

Match 27: Archippus Club Dimapur faced Longsa Sporting Club in a nail-biting encounter. Archippus won the first set 25-23, but Longsa bounced back to take the second and third sets, winning 25-20 and 15-12.

Match 28: Tongden Club eliminated Kumlong Ward from the tournament with scores of 25-20, 16-25, and 15-12. Kumlong Ward, a young team, fought valiantly but lost in the deciding set.

Match 29: Peren secured a spot in the quarter-finals after a thrilling match against Changtongya Volleyball Association B. Changtongya B took the first set 25-23, but Peren’s strategic team changes led to victories in the remaining sets, with scores of 25-21 and 15-11.

Match 30: FAC was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Kumlong Sporting Association with scores of 11-25 and 7-25. Kumlong SA qualified for the quarter-finals from Pool B.

 

With standout teams like Chienino Brothers and Changtongya Volleyball Association ‘A’, along with the defending champions MH10 in the mix, and Kumlong Sporting Association and Ozümi Volleyball Team emerging as strong contenders, the competition is heating up. As we move closer to determining the 16th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2023 champion, fans can expect more thrilling matches in the days ahead. The tournament ends on 22 September.
