18 villages audited as Kohima holds 4th phase MGNREGS social audit hearing

The 4th phase of the Financial Year 2025–26 District-Level Social Audit Public Hearing under MGNREGS, covering works implemented during FY 2023–24, was convened by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Kohima in collaboration with NSSAA, Social Audit Unit Nagaland, on April 28 at the DPDB Hall, Kohima.

Kevilhoubei-u, Project Director, DRDA Kohima, chaired the hearing and addressed the gathering.

Imlirenla Sanglir, Assistant Director, NSSAA, SAU Nagaland, in her introductory remarks, informed that a total of 18 villages across three RD Blocks were audited. These included Tesophenyu (Chunlikha); Sendenyu New, Gwachonlo, Khonibinzun, Lotsuphen, Phentejon, Rengmapani, Rumesinyu, Tsosinyu, and Zisunyu (Tseminyu); and Gariphema Bawe, Seiyhama, Seiyha-Phesa, Teichuma, Tuophe Phezou, Tuophema, Gariphema Basa, and Tseimekhuma Basa (Botsa).

She also touched upon the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, describing it as a comprehensive overhaul of MGNREGA aimed at strengthening accountability, infrastructure outcomes, and income security in line with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Khrutalu Shijoh, District Resource Person, presented the social audit findings, which were reviewed during the hearing. Key issues included mismatches between MIS and RD Block records, enrollment of new households, non-maintenance of project shelves, and job card-related concerns. Rectifications were provided by the concerned BDOs, and resolutions were adopted for corrective action.

Ane Khieya, EAC Kohima HQ, attended as the district administration observer. BDOs from Tseminyu, Botsa, and Chunlikha RD Blocks, along with DRDA officials, MGNREGA beneficiaries, village functionaries, VLOs, and media personnel, participated in the hearing.
