Day two of the 18th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2025, organized by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung, saw nine matches played while one was forfeited. The day marked the conclusion of the group stages, with 18 matches played over two days, including two walkovers. Out of 14 participating teams, eight have advanced to the quarterfinals, scheduled for Thursday, with semifinals and finals set for Friday.
In Pool A, Chienino Brothers Kiruphema ‘A’ struggled in both their matches, losing to Shikaho Memorial Club Akuluto 25–18, 25–12 and later falling to Longsa Sporting Club Mokokchung 25–13, 25–15. United Changki continued their dominant form in Pool D, defeating Yangs Brothers 25–12, 25–15 and topping the pool with a straight-sets win over Spadroons Club Chungtia 25–21, 25–18.
Evergreen Club Ungma and Yajang ‘C’ automatically advanced from Pool B following the withdrawal of Southern Angami Sports Association. In Pool C, Chienino Brothers Kiruphema ‘B’ overcame Yisemyong Volleyball Association 25–12, 25–22, while Fly High Tuensang secured the top spot after a 25–19, 25–18 win over Yisemyong, confirming both teams for the knockout stage.
Defending champions MH-10 Kohima displayed their championship composure, defeating Shikaho Memorial Club 25–21, 25–13. Changtongya Volleyball Association, already out of contention, managed a 2–1 (25/21, 23/25, 25/18) win over Yangs Brothers in a competitive match, finishing their campaign on a positive note.
The group stages were marked by high-intensity encounters, precise attacks, and tactical play, highlighting the skill and competitive spirit of Nagaland’s volleyball teams. With the quarterfinals approaching, all eyes will now turn to the knockout rounds, where the eight remaining teams will battle for a place in the semifinals and a chance to lift one of Nagaland’s most prestigious volleyball trophies.
