Since the government of Nagaland ordered for the closure of check gates on May 19 and enforced from May 20, at least 21 gates out of 34 have been closed down. This was informed by Chief Secretary J. Alam today while interacting with media persons. He also informed that 13 inter-state check gates are operating at the moment.

 

Alam informed that DCs of all the districts and other officials have gone to various check gates to oversee the closure of the check gates. He also said that two phone numbers are operating 24×7 with abled and dedicated officers and therefore made an ardent appeal to the public to give information about any illegal taxation or collection.

 

DGP Nagaland John Longkumer, who was also present, informed that so far eight complaints were received and six complaints were found to be actionable; six FIRs were lodged in different police stations and investigations are going on. He appealed to all the people to cooperate with the security force and inform the police at the earliest of any illegal activities.
