Kohima, October 7 (MTNews): The second edition of the Nagaland State Futsal Championship organized by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and hosted by Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) commenced on Friday at Reiphinyü Badze, Vürie, Kohima with Deputy Commissioner Kohima and chairman of the District Sports Council, Shanavas C, IAS, gracing the inaugural ceremony as the special guest.

 

In his speech, the DC stated that Nagas had significant potential in endurance sports such as football, badminton, and table tennis. He challenged the players not to sit back and relax, but to work hard in order to compete at the national and international levels.

 

He believes that with the combined efforts of the district administration, state government, and sports groups, athletes may advance to larger platforms outside of the state.

 

Athletes, he noted, are some of the most disciplined people who live a healthy lifestyle. As a result, he advised the athletes to abstain from tobacco products and live a healthy lifestyle.

 

Shanavas also exhorted the athletes to give their best and to accept failure as well as triumph gracefully.

 

K Neibou Sekhose, president of the Nagaland Football Association, expressed his delight that the event was effectively organised by the Kohima District Football Association (KDFA).

 

He stated that the NFA will be focused on football development through nurturing youngsters in over 800 schools around the state.

 

He stated that the newly formed All India Football Federation (AIFF) team, led by Kalyan Chaubey, is actively working for the welfare and growth of football in India.

 

He went on to say that football in the country is presently on a meteoric rise.

 

Earlier the inaugural was chaired by Medolenuo Ambrocia, while invocation was pronounced by Vimegokho Chüsi, Youth Pastor, Minister’s Hill Baptist Church, Kohima. Welcome address was delivered by KDFA President Mhasimhalie Yhome. A special song was presented by Mhasheseno Neikha.
