Küpza, 17 January (MTNews): The 39th Ongpangkong Students’ Conference commenced on 17 January 2024 at Küpza Village, located about 15 km from Mokokchung town, bringing together students of the Ongpangkong range under the common theme of “Liberated Education.”

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, who graced the event as the inaugural guest of honor. Longkumer emphasized the importance of discipline in achieving collective aspirations, and the need for a rejuvenated Ongpangkong.

Challenging the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang to envision its accomplishments in the next 15 years, Longkumer urged the formulation of a Mission and Vision Statement. He stressed that “Liberated Education” should be the central focus across all educational sectors, encompassing arts and preparing individuals for leadership roles. Longkumer encouraged participants to use the conference as a moment for introspection.

The conference, hosting 535 delegates representing 18 units of the OKM, is set to conclude on 19 January 2023. The gathering aims to foster a sense of empowerment and enlightenment among students, promoting the ideals of liberated education for a brighter future.

Metsubo Jamir, Minister, RD and SIRD, will be the chief guest of the conference on 18 January while MLA and Advisor for Minority Affairs and Sericulture, Imkongmar, will be the valedictory guest of honor on 19 January.
