The 6th Inter School Badminton Championship began today at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Mokokchung, organized by the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA). The event was graced by Mokokchung Municipal Councilor Imkumniba Kichu, who attended the opening ceremony as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Kichu remarked that badminton is more than just a game, describing it as “a test of speed, strength, skills, and agility.” He encouraged the young athletes to play with unwavering determination and consistency, adding that these qualities are vital not only in sports but also in achieving broader life goals.
“Play not as rivals, but with true sportsmanship,” Kichu said, urging the students to embody the spirit of champions. He highlighted that the championship should not be viewed merely as a platform to represent one’s school or to participate, but rather as an opportunity to play with true passion and purpose.
The speaker also urged all students to remain determined and consistent in their efforts, stating that such dedication is essential for achieving not only their personal goals but also the collective vision of the MDBA.
The Councilor concluded by inspiring the players to strive for excellence and to dream big, so that someday they might bring name and fame for all as celebrated sportspersons.
