Mokokchung, 30 January (MTNews) : The 7th edition of Mokokchung AutoX & Up Hill Climb kicked off today at Sungratsu Sports Complex, Mokokchung. The event, organized by the Adventure and Motorsport Association Mokokchung (AMAM), saw 44 participants from seven teams from three states – Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Assam.

Day one saw the blending Autocross race. In the Autocross Below 1300CC category, top 3 were as follows:
Thkziku, clocking 00:02:26.47
Alem I Jamir (AMAM), clocking 01:02:28.25
Kima Jamir (SPEARHEAD), clocking 00:02:29.43

In the autocross SUV Category, top 3 are
Among Jamir (SPEARHEAD), clocking 00:02:33.38
Kamlish Das (NE), clocking 00:02:33.81
Ana Solo (NE), clocking 00:02:34.57

Autocross Open Category, top 3 are:
Thkziku, clocking 2:23.41
Alem I Jamir (AMAM), clocking 02:26.90
Hokavi Kiba, clocking 02:27.25

The winners will be declared after tabulation of both AutoX and Up Hill Climb tomorrow.

Toshimongla Kichu, Project Director of DRDA, Nagaland was the special guest at the flagging off ceremony. Speaking at the inaugural program, she quoted from the Bible, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” She emphasized that as sportsmen, regardless of the sport, individuals need to embody discipline. Kichu highlighted the importance of leading a good lifestyle that others will look up to in the age of global connectivity through social media.

She challenged all participants to use sports, like racing, as a means to foster brotherhood and contribute to tourism development in the region. Kichu stressed the significance of representing Nagas and their lifestyle accurately through hobbies and participation in such events to uplift the spirit of the community.

Kichu expressed that such an event, when directed appropriately, has the potential to significantly boost the tourism sector in the region.

In his address, Moasashi Jamir, President of AMAM, stated that it has been an effort for AMAM to provide a platform for all motorsport enthusiasts, no matter how small the platform is. He hoped that the participants would give their best and welcomed all participants from different places to be a part of the event.

Day two of the 7th Mokokchung AutoX & Up Hill Climb will witness the Up Hill Climb at Merakum Tzuin Resort along Yimchalu Road in Mokokchung. The event will conclude with Imtikumzuk Imsong, President BJP YUVA Mokokchung district, as the special guest in the closing ceremony.
