Mokokchung, August 23 (MTNews): The Ongpangkong Compound Youth Union (OCYU) conducted a workshop on mushroom production and training cum demonstration on value addition of horticultural crops for better income on 19th August at Yimyu Community Hall.

 

 

Khekali Sema, ACTO (Horticulture) KVK, Mokokchung delivering the keynote address said that horticultural crops suffer from both quantitative and qualitative losses between the harvests and consumption and shared on the need to understand the importance of post-harvest management to control post-harvest process and generate income.

 

In the technical session, the hands-on training on cultivation of oyster mushroom through patty straw was conducted by Dr. Imchalemla, SDHO, Tuli.

 

Hands-on practical session were also conducted by Khekali Sema, ACTO (Horticulture) KVK, Mokokchung where the participants were trained on making various value-added products followed by packaging and storing.

 

Earlier, the program was chaired by Sentimar Longchar, OCYU president; invocation by Moa Jamir, Associate Pastor Youth; welcome speech by Medemnungsang, OCYU Executive; vote of thanks by Lanuakum, OCYU Advisor and benediction by Longtsalong, General Secretary, OCYU. All together 23 participants attended the training.

 

The workshop was sponsored by Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK).
