Mokokchung, August 25 (MTNews): A consultative meeting between the NPP Noklak District Unit and the State Parent Body was held at the Tourist Lodge in Noklak Town on August 24, 2022, as part of the 10th leg of the district tour that the State Team of the NPP, Nagaland was undertaking.
State officials, members of the Noklak District Frontal Bodies, including the Women and Youth Wings, and potential candidates for the upcoming Assembly Election of 2023 from a number of constituencies in Noklak District also attended the meeting.
According to the party’s press statement, it was overwhelming how within a short notice of just 5 days, a huge turnout of around 180 people from various constituencies attended the meeting while the Noklak Tourist Lodge Hall was packed to full capacity where some sections of the crowd had to attend the meeting by sitting outside the hall.
The party claimed that the most encouraging aspect for the NPP during the meeting was the unprecedented support of the people from the 57 Thonoknyu Assembly Constituency for the intending NPP Candidate for the next Assembly Election, P. Pongom, who has a very high prospect of sweeping the next polls due to the enthusiastic support of the general public who are eagerly awaiting a huge transformation in the overall progress and development of their constituency, which has until now been retarded.
Pongom, a former president of ENPO as well as the former President of the Khiamniungan Tribal Community, is well-known among Nagas for his wisdom and integrity across the state, and is also a three-time MLA and former Minister of Nagaland, informed the party.
Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, the State President, mainly dwelt on the sidelines of King Solomon’s famous story wherein he had sought for wisdom over wealth and riches during his talk to the gathering. He urged the gathering not to be concerned with wealth and momentary pleasures, but rather to promote the development of their community by electing leaders with integrity and knowledge who seek the broader benefit of the common people rather than personal gain.
He highlighted the fact that many notable leaders are eager to join the party and that, in fact, in some constituencies, two or three candidates are already in line for getting the party ticket. However, he added that the party is currently keeping a very low profile and will publicly announce the official candidates and the party’s plans for the upcoming elections at the appropriate and timely moment.
He also emphasised the NPP’s primary goal and objective as a people’s party, which was to hasten the development of the region by a collective effort of all concerned.
Dr. Aimong Khiam, District President, NPP Noklak; P. Pongom, intending candidate from 57 Thonoknyu AC; Khehoto Awomi, State Vice President; Ranjit Singhvi, State Advisor, Minority Cell; Jacob Krocha, State General Secy (Admin); and Imna Meren State Secretary were among the other speakers at the meeting.
