Kohima, September 25 (MTNews): The Mangmetong Students’ Union Kohima Unit (MSUKU) celebrated its Golden Jubilee under the theme ‘Towards Excellence’ (Tematiba Dangi) at RCEMPA Jotsoma, Kohima on 24th September 2022.

Er. Imnameren Imchen

Executive Engineer, NPWD, Er. Imnameren Imchen, speaking on the theme, said excellence is a system-based diagnostic approach that does not come easily, and that, for a person or a union to move forward, diagnosis is important as it is required to introspect and retrospect the areas that need to improve. He added excellence is a quality that needs effort and commitment and is a continuous process. He called upon the students to retrospect the education system in the last 50 years and see if it has reached a level that needs appreciation. He advocated bringing out solutions to problems that arise and that random acts do not lead to excellence.

He said: To move forward, we need rules and policy, realistic visions, and discipline to act against one’s unproductive desires to achieve something. He urged the students to be passionate, responsible, honorable, identify their talent, and communicate to raise one’s platform.

MLA, Imkong L. Imchen, who was the Guest of Honour, recalled that the Union was founded with a handful of students after much deliberation. He called upon all to know the root of their history and migration and also called upon the students to do all things through God like their pioneers and the founders. He asked the students to be courageous to speak the truth, not lie, and to be united.

Imchen also released the Jubilee Souvenir during the program. The first President of MSUKU, Nungsangmeren Imchen shared a brief history of the Union and said the Union was founded on 12th March 1972 by a handful of students. During the program, an exhortation was given by President, Mangmetong Senso Telongjem Kohima, Samson Tzudir, while Jubilee Greetings were pronounced by Mangmetonglar Telongjem Kohima, Kohima Ongpangkong Kaketshir Telongjem, Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Kohima and Mangmetong Kaketshir Telongjem.
